i would rather cry than have a reason to (2020) clay, glaze, chain, and wire

I used to cry a lot as a kid, I cry a lot now. I find crying to be integral to processing emotion, even if I don’t mean to. It was revealed to me, as it was to all of us, growing up, that crying isn’t okay: we all just had to tough it out. There are too many cliche connotations that accompany crying to count; being too feminine, being too weak, being unstable- none of which should be considered weaknesses. But I think that many instances in life are meant to be unlearnt. I think that we can cry out in joy, sob in pain, that it’s okay to let our eyes cleanse the thoughts that surround our very being.
