Professional Experience
Center for Creative Works - Wynnewood, PA April 2024 - Present Art Instructor- Ceramics
Facilitates a safe, adaptive environment for artists with a wide range of physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities to dissolve the barriers of art-making in clay (including but not limited to: hand-over-hand instruction, assisting with hand-drafting templates, verbal prompting, etc.)
Develops detailed daily reports on client progress to be compiled into quarterly and yearly progress analysis for Medicaid billing using MyAvatar software.
Completes timely industry standard ceramics studio maintenance practices such as kiln loading/firing/maintenance, clay recycling, ordering tools, underglazes, and glazes, pricing artists’ works that reflect their exhibition record, etc.
Main Line Arts Center – Haverford, PA January 2023– Present Teaching Artist
Instructs classes using a variety of ceramic processes including wheel throwing and hand-building, as well as teaching special interest courses for children and adults.
Creates ceramic curricula and writes syllabi with the intent to instruct individuals of various ages and abilities.
The Ceramic Shop – Norristown, PA May 2023– Present Glaze Lab Technician
Maintains steady production and robust inventory of all The Ceramic Shop brand glazes and other ceramic products (incl. Crack Pot, Wax-On and Wax-Off, etc.) in their entire production cycle at The Ceramic Shop from predicting customer trends which impact our manufacturing schedule, assembling ingredients for products, packaging, stocking the shelves of our brick-and-mortar location, and uploading inventory data into Retail Management Hero inventory software.
Crafts glazes (∆6 Pro Series, Casual Tints, 1Fire Collection, etc.) to company standards through all steps of the process from stocking the lab’s dry material, weighing, sieving, and barrel rolling, troubleshooting for material shortages, additional testing, and other research development.
Actively participates in the completion of orders of glazes, ceramic products, custom glaze requests, and various liquid and dry materials for local, national, and international sale in a timely manner.
Manufactures casting slip to company standards for the in-house production of stilts and kiln furniture, of which we are the sole manufacturer in the nation.
Upholds deep values of safety in lab and warehouse settings and other facilities management, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, the disposal of trash, replacement of paper towels, placing orders with upper management for bottles, jars, jugs, and bags. Ensure PPE stocks are maintained for our work area.
Teresa Chang Ceramics – Philadelphia, PA November 2022 – June 2023 Studio Assistant
Execute studio and upkeep tasks that maintain standards of efficiency for a made-to-order functional pottery business that include but are not limited to making glazes from ceramic materials, wedging clay and processing reclaim for reuse, making colored clay using stains, glazing pottery, loading and unloading kilns.
Brockway Center for the Arts and Technology – Brockway, PA September 2021 – August 2022 Resident Artist
Maintained the ceramic studio including clay and glaze making, janitorial duties, kiln repair, taught high school students in daily after school program, and installed and de-installed national and international gallery exhibitions.
Instructed and produced teaching syllabi adult ceramic courses, planned and instructed workshops/events in the ceramic studio.
Responsible for the loading, unloading, and firing of electric, raku, and gas reduction kilns.
